The Reception into the Postulate

Return to news

On July 9th the SNJM Lesotho province was blessed with a new entrant, Miss Relebohile Mary Makara, who entered the postulate at Bela-Bela Formation House. The reception took place during Holy Mass, led by Father Tlotliso, and was attended by many sis-ters from the province, members of the Kolonyama Congregation, and local boys and girls, who danced and sang.

In his homily, Father Tlotliso told Ms. Mary that com-ing to the postulant is a call. The Father asked every-one present to remember their reception day and ponder their journey since their first vows. He em-phasised that only their cloth habits differentiate them from others, and that what matters more is their way of life, which exemplifies their vocation for the new entrant. He told all the sisters present that—as they celebrate with the postulant—that they should each remember that they dedicated their lives to serve Christ of their own free will—and should re-commit to the call.

Sister Laurentina, who also spoke during the cere-mony, said she believes Ms Mary made a free choice to come to religious life. She urged her to always re-call her parents’ words when she left home, and to be receptive to the guidance and leadership of her el-ders. Sister Laurentina reminded the sisters that they are all therefore teachers to the new postulant, and their lives should be an example for young adults en-tering the postulant. Finally, she thanked the vocation team who recruited the new member, and Sister Ern-estina, who will form her.
